A Holiday to Remember

Gepubliceerd op 28 januari 2026 om 22:02

I can say with full certainty that this was the best christmas I've ever had. I've finaly met the girl of my dreams and she is even more beautiful than the legends foretold.

I tell you right now, never have I seen a more beautiful girl on any picture, ever before. I promise you, one glance and you'll fall in love instantly. But, having seen her in real life? Those photo's don't even come close to doing her justice. The fact that I did not burst into flames the moment I layed eyes on her can only be credited to having copious amounts of ice in our drinky drinks. Now let me tell you the story of our holiday...

Day 1: We have arrived, it has been about a days travel and I am in complete disbelief. I can't get over the fact that I'll finally get to see my Princess, the love of my life. M is already waving as I walk out and we head straight to the car, but not before buying a nice bouquet of flowers from Woolworth's!

As we arrive at the place I see my baby standing there. I had to make sure I still had a pulse because I'm pretty sure my heart just stopped. I walked through the door and she is even more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. And her voice? I could die happy right hear, right now. She sounds like every single dopamine button in my brain is being smashed with a hammer. Alright, game face on, I can't just swoon right here in front of everyone. First things first, let me make some coffee.

Her friends stay a little longer to talk and make sure I'm not planning to murder anyone, I mean who can blame them, but after a while they head their own way and I'm finally alone with my Princess. I'm careful not to cross any boundaries but fairly quickly we get comfortable and let down our guard. I hear her laugh and I have to resist against every fiber in my body not to drop down on my knee right there. If I ever let this girl go, that will most definitely be the biggest mistake I would ever make. To top it all off she made me some of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. It's no wonder I lose all my 50/50's at hard pity, clearly I have used all my blessings getting a girl like this. Life is good.

In the evening I finally got to try bunny chow and I don't think I'm ever leaving South Africa. The fact that people go their entire lives not knowing this exists is criminal. This has been a perfect first day.

Day 4: We've settles into a wonderful routine. In the mornings I wake up, make coffee and set up her workstation. Then I come into her room and we spend the start of the day waking up with cuddles and coffee. Our little daughter Klee comes to lay with us till it's time for me to take her out for a little bathroom break. My baby's been working hard so I decided to order her some ice cream. She tells me I should visit table mountain and I'd like to since it does sound fun. But in all honesty, I have waited 3 years to see my Princess, and leaving her here while I go look over the edge of a rock?? No thank you. I am good right here. I'm not getting any kisses on table mountain, I don't get to cuddle floofems while I'm up there. So I'm good right here with my baby, ready to make her little drinks and tend to her every need. She also made us some bread today and if this isn't the most delicious looking bread you have ever seen in your life, you're definitely lying.

Unfortunately her keyboard broke today! I couldn't let my baby be uncomfortable while she's working so I quickly ordered a new keyboard to go along. It took a second to arrive but the look on her face when she got it made it all worth it. She makes my heart melt, it's a good thing Klee's there to take care of any spills. While I was at it I decided to make our place a little more ready for christmas and got us a little tree to decorate. We set it up at the window and it makes the place look so cosy.

We spend the day watching some movies and having a wonderful little time. I am falling more in love with this lady every day and I am so certain I'm going to marry her.

Day 5: The day is finally here! I get to take this wonderful specimen on a date. We start the day as normal, my baby working her cute little butt off and me tending to her every need. The nerves are getting to me though. I've got it all planned out, this evening we're gonna take the uber to Maru, I'll take care of ordering and my baby will just get to enjoy being pampered. It's the perfect plan!

Evening rolls around and we both start getting ready. I'm ready fairly fast and I'm just waiting for my baby to get out of the room. As soon as she opened the door, sense and reason jumped out the window. I felt like a cartoon with my jaw hitting the floor and my eyes jumping out of their sockets. If I survive the night it will be by gods grace alone because my heart has stopped and my breath has been stolen away. The fact that I managed to even speak is a miracle on its own.

We jump in the uber as we make our way to maru. We come in to a beautiful little place, greeted by the owner of the establishment. By the look of his mustache and goatee I'm pretty sure he has a side hustle as a third rate cartoon villain, but his personality was highly entertaining. He sits us down at the table and I'm sure he said words but I am completely entranced by the beauty in front of me. A little later the waitress shows up and explains the menu to us. The music is a little loud so I couldn't hear everything she said but my baby seems to enjoy it and I already know what we're going to order, so no harm there.

We get our food a little later and I am feeling wonderful. My baby's got a yummy drink, the food is delicious, finally I got to take my baby on a proper date. That is when she finishes her cocktail. I decided to order her something else and every next cocktail I ordered was worse than the last. First we get glorified tomato juice, then a cocktail with prickly pair (she's allergic) and we top it all off with the last cocktail which contains a frozen egg that slowly melts into your drink. Mmmmmmm, so good....

Luckily we had a good laugh at the whole thing. I love her so much, she has such a lovely personality. Halfway through the meal the waitress came to take some pictures for us. The sentiment was sweet and I adore the pictures, but if she lowered the phone by an inch, I'm sure it would've been resting on the head of the woman sitting next to us. She was very sweet though and the service really did make the experience even better. We had an amazing night and when we finally got back we were beat.

Day 6: Time for our wine tasting! I haven't had wine in forever, mainly cause I was never really a fan, but what better way to learn than by having some on a lovely outing with my Princess. So we get ready, we say goodbye to our little daughter, and we take the uber to Vergenoegd Löw. This uber guy was so annoyed. I'm pretty sure he regretted having to take us there, but we did get there safely. I have been emailing with this place for months now so I expect everything to be perfect, but as I get there and I look at the shock on the guys face when I tell him we're there for the tasting, I realise they did not prepare a thing. Slight panic in my mind but they seem to have it figured out and seated us at the table. We went for the indigenous tasting as that sounded like the most interesting one to me.

They brought out the trays with the food and a few wineglasses to drink from. My baby looks sophisticated, graceful, she goes through it like a true princess as I feel a bit like a caveman in a chinashop. But my baby explained the basics, I'm sure this'll go wonderfully. The wine is delicious and the food even better. We're talking about our future and having a wonderful time doing so. It was an absolute blast and I would definitely do it again!

At the end I buy my baby the sauvignon blanc as that was her favorite and we head outside to order an uber. The car seems to be at the other side of the winery and is unable to come to us. Luckily I brought my baby her flats, so we set out on a little journey to the carpark. After a little bit of walking we find the Uber and we are on our way back home.

In the evening my baby mentions wanting to go to the beach, so we put on our costumes and head on out again. We brought a nice bottle of wine, some towels and different kinds of food to enjoy, everything for the perfect night watching the sunset. When we got there, there was quite a bit of wind, but the beach was beautiful. We had some cake and a nice glass of wine watching the sun set before going back home again, our bellies filled and our legs freshly scrubbed by the blowing sand.

Day 7: Today is a pretty chill day. Wednesday we went to chinatown, and I managed to get a whole bunch of pokemon cards with it for her to enjoy. The binder should be arrived today for her to put all the pretty cards in to. She seems really excited for it, it's the cutest thing. She is the best person to give gifts to because every single one of them is accepted with so much love and gratitude, she's the absolute best.

Day 8:  Unfortunately my baby seems to be getting sick. She woke up feeling a horrible pain in the throat so I decided to make her some soup. She said her favourite soup is Chicken and Mushroom soup and since no restaurant near us sells this kind of soup, I decided to make her some myself! I can follow a recipe just fine so I'm sure it will be delicious. I ordered the items from Checkers Sixty60 and went to work.

About 2 hours later the soup was almost ready, I may not be the fastest cook but it was smelling wonderfully. We got ourselves some bread and butter with it as I poured us a bowl. A mental sigh of relief happened as I saw the happiness on my baby's face when she had her first bite. It was delicious and we ended up having extra portions.

Day 9: Today we had some friends over, Luna and Marcel came to visit for Christmas. Ellie went with Luna to have some lunch and a few cocktails while I went with Marcel to go Go-Karting. It was a struggle because the go kart place didn't take card and we didn't have cash, but after a treasure hunt through the mall we finally found a place to get some cash. It was a lot of fun and I actually managed to do a lot better than I thought I would!

After we got done we went to pick up the girls and drove back to our place. Our little daughter waiting for us right where we left her.  Inside we went to play some boardgames with cocktails as we prepared for the evening braai. I was wearing my Christmas shirt ready to start the night. Marcel manned the braai as we enjoyed the night.

Day 10: Christmas time! Luna and Marcel slept over so we ordered some Croissants for breakfast. We spent a little time together before they left to enjoy their day. Now I know we already exchanged gifts on the day we arrived but obviously I couldn't have nothing to open on Christmas day, so I ordered some a days before that would arrive on the day. Funnily enough my baby had the same idea so we both got to exchange gifts on christmas. I got her a Barbie phone with a perfume and our little daughter I got some new plushies to enjoy. Klee looked like the most adorable thing while enjoying her little plushies. After they got their gift Ellie brought mine out, she got me a sodastream and I couldn't be happier. It's something I've wanted for forever so I can't wait to start using it. I put it straight in my suitcase to keep it safe for the way home.

As I was putting stuff away, Ellie started exploring the Barbie phone. she was having a wonderful time discovering all the little functionalities. I got added as Ken in her contacts as I turned on the tv. Since she wasn't feeling her best yet, we spend the day watching Bridgerton. Over the week we managed to catch up on all 3 seasons before heading back home.

Sidenote: Don't her nails look amazing? My heart starts racing every time I look at her, she makes me so happy.

Day 13: Ellie planned us a winetasting today. Now I don't mean to brag, but we are looking good together. She's wearing a beautiful yellow dress that would make your eyes pop out of your head. The day was not without it's challenges with my baby still not feeling better, some wardrobe malfunctions and questionable service from some of the staff, but I ended up having a lovely time still. Honestly you can't help but feel happy when you've got the prettiest girl in the world sitting next to you.

As we got back I ordered her some more coffee for the mornings and put on some more Bridgerton. We spent the rest of the night enjoying eachothers company just having fun.

Day 14: I felt so bad today for my Princess. Ellie planned us this amazing wine tasting trip where we were gonna travel past different wine tastings enjoying cupcakes and more. It was gonna be a wonderful time, however she felt so sick she wasn't able to go. Obviously I'm not gonna go out there enjoying wine while my baby is sick so I decided that if we can't go to the fun day, I'm going to bring the fun day to her.

First things first though, we had to go to the doctor. Turns out she's got tonsillitis, can you believe it? We got back and I immediately had her put her feetsies up to relax as I went to pick up the prescription. After I rushed back home to make her another batch of soup as she had a little nap.  I spent the day taking care of her best I could, while we watched a ton of Bridgerton.

Day 16: She's feeling slightly better so we decided to go visit the aquarium. It was a lovely day so we were quite excited. We got dressed and went on our way. As we got to the aquarium we realised our mistake. It was so incredibly busy you could barely walk without bumping someone elses shoulder. We sped through the aquarium like nobodies business, took some really nice pictures along the way and rushed to the gift shop. We ended up getting some really cute matching bracelets together before we left the Aquarium again.

Since we had a bit more time left I decided to order us an uber to the "Honest Chocolate Cafe", which sounded really cute. The visuals looked stunning so we were very excited but to be honest, the chocolate was not the best. We finished most of it but decided we'd rather spent our time enjoying ourselves at home, so I quickly ordered us an uber and off we went. The rest of the day was spent cuddling Klee and watching more Bridgerton.

Day 18: The last day has finally come and I am so sad to be leaving. If she asked I would genuinely just leave my flight and go with her to Johannesburg. Netherlands be damned! Unfortunately this wasn't the case and we had to say goodbye. Though with the sadness also comes a lot of excitement. I now get to prepare for our future together and I can't wait for all the things to come this year.

My love, I did not know I could love someone as much as I love you. I can't wait for the future we'll build together. The day that I'm able to call you my wife genuinely can't come fast enough and I'll make sure you'll be the happiest wife this world has ever seen.
